ANNOUNCEMENT:
New Appointee to MRCNS Council of Directors

12 Nov 2024

The Midwifery Regulatory Council of Nova Scotia is pleased to announce the recent appointment of a registered midwife representative joining our Council of Directors, effective immediately.

Mianh Lamson, RM has been a practising midwife since 2010. She has studied and worked in New Zealand, then Ontario and Quebec before deciding to make Nova Scotia home. Mianh is the lead and founding midwife of the Cape Breton Midwives Pilot Project – the first Alternate Practice Arrangement (APA) in Nova Scotia. She brings a strong career focus on rural health provision, teaching, scope expansion and justice as a principle of accessible midwifery care, and is excited to serve on the MRCNS board.

Mianh is a queer and racialized midwife, and brings a voice of diversity to her work with the Council.  She is currently completing a Masters of Science in Midwifery at McMaster University and raising their five children in their beloved home on Cape Breton.

Welcome to the Council, Mianh. The MRCNS is proud to have you on board!
